July 28th is World Hepatitis Day. The Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH) is working with organizations across Canada to raise awareness and join the global effort to eradicate hepatitis. In 2010, the World Health Organization (WHO) made World Hepatitis Day one of only 4 official disease-specific world health days to be celebrated annually. Out of the 325 million people living with viral hepatitis globally, upward of 290 million are living with hepatitis B or hepatitis C without knowing. Unless there is a massive scale-up in screening, diagnosis and linkage to care, more people will become infected and lives will continue to be lost. Together, we can work to find the missing millions.
In the spirit of raising awareness, RHAC’s Hepatitis C Support Team will be hosting testing events throughout July. Join in the fun of the events and know your status!
